Karl Lyon

Karl Lyon has more than 36 years of international and domestic business experience in corporate management and consulting roles. His primary focus is on helping clients design and implement effective organizations. He has extensive experience in achieving strategic alignment, organization diagnosis, capability assessment, operational improvement, and transformation design.

Karl is a vice-president of Phoenix Images. He is also president of LIGA International and has associations with Tercon Consulting and the Kaleidoscope Group. Consulting clients have ranged from the non-profits, such as the United Way, to large corporations, such as Caterpillar and ExxonMobil. Karl also has design and delivery experience in leadership alignment, facilitation, and diversity. He has experience with large and small organizations, from the shop floor to the boardroom level.

Karl has worked in Canada in finance, information systems, manufacturing, distribution and human resources fields for the cosmetics, agricultural, and pharmaceutical business. He left Canada as director of personnel and public relations for Lilly Canada. Karl then worked in California in the medical device business for 5 years as vice-president of administration for Advanced Cardiovascular Systems (later Guidant). He was responsible for human resources, information systems, facilities and administration as the company grew from 125 to 1200 during the start-up phase. He was on the management committee and reported to the president at both of these companies. Karl capped his corporate career at the headquarters of Eli Lilly & Company, where he worked on corporate domestic and international organization design challenges, as well as many years as director of compensation and director of human resource for new product development. Some of these experiences included corporate acquisitions and divestitures, HRIS installations and development of cross-functional teams.

Karl holds a Masters in Business Administration from Stanford University and a Bachelor in Industrial Engineering from the University of Toronto. He has extensive experience living abroad, has studied several languages and is also fluent in Spanish. He is currently a member of IUPUI Training and Organization Development Advisory Board in Indianapolis.
